Jennifer Beals plays Bette Porter, a dean at the University of California.

Beals - (born December 19, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois) - appeared in "Flashdance" while a freshman at Yale studying American literature.

While at Yale, she was classmates with David Duchovny, who suggested her for a part on The X-Files (which went to Gillian Anderson).

In Jennifer's film "Desolation Sound", features a puppet of her. Check it out

In her first Olympic-distance Triathlon, Jennifer Beals (entered as Jennifer Dixon under her married name) finished overall #259 out of 287 participants. Her total time was 3 hrs 24 min. She was #24 out of her age group (40 to 49) of 28 participants: *Thanks Jane!
